I got to know Jose Feliciano early in my guitar building career. I had done a lot of tech work for him. We both liked a big, bassy, loud classical guitar. He wanted the body to be as big as a Dreadnaught. So I built some instruments to his liking. The first couple guitars I built for him were actually nylon string dreadnaughts. Jose is a very versatile player. He's Flamenco, Classical , Rock, Jazz, Pop, you name it. So he really utilizes the big boomy sound. I now make his model with the Sand cutaway. He really uses it! It is still a very big guitar, 16" wide and 4.75" deep, but the new shape makes it much more comfortable to hold. This instruments is built like a traditional concert classical guitar. Indian Rosewood back and sides. Sitka or Englemann Spruce soundboard. Mahogany neck with an ebony fingerboard. Jose likes the full size 2" nut, and a long 660mm scale length. Other sizes are available at no extra charge. I use the RMC electronics on Jose's guitar. Any other system is also an option.
